Our holiday in Thailand was unforgettable, fast-paced, exciting, challenging and breathtaking...
... Responsible Travel

Five tips for the responsible traveller
1. Research your destination as much as
possible. Try to sift through the PR spin to
asses the genuine commitment made by a
hotel or a travel company to reducing their
ecologial footprint and benefiting the local community.

2. Use low carbon transport wherever pos-
sible, from boats and trains to bicycles, rather
than airplanes and cars, then offset the
carbon from your travel through a sound on-
line carbon mitigation schemes. Email offset@thewebofhope.org and they will recommend one.

3. Be conscious of local cultures, traditions, customs and economics in your host destina-
tion and not to support activities that are
eroding their integrity.

4. Support local community intitiatives wher-
ever you can and if possible, go and visit
them in person and get a real impression of
what your money is doing to benefit those
living there.

5. Minimize the 'ecological footprint’ of your
holiday wherever possible; eat local produce,
only buy local rather than imported products,
try to avoid bottled water, use local transport,
turn off the AC and open the windows or use
the fan. Every action counts.
