Arrive in Bangkok and escape the heat and humidity by heading for the river and explore Bangkok by boat. The Chao Phraya is a spectacle day or night with a constant stream of river traffic including long strings of barges, commuter boats, long tails and food vendors. Visit Bangkok’s cultural sights including Palaces, Temples and Museums and indulge yourself in the hidden treasures to be found at Spas, Markets and Shopping Malls and a visit to Bangkok would not be complete without sampling the many culinary delights to be found on the street, in local restaurants and within the most renowned Bangkok hotels.
From Bangkok continue to the UNESCO World Heritage Listed town of Luang Prabang in Northern Laos where the streets the streets are lined with traditional Laos architecture that sits proudly alongside French colonial architecture. The pace of life here is slow but there is much to do and see including many cultural attractions, historic temples, waterfalls and of course a boat trip on the Mekong itself to visit little villages harbouring skilled craft-persons and caves inhabited by Buddhist statues. Don’t miss the early start to witness and participate in the early morning alms procession.
Just a short hop from Luang Prabang is Chiang Mai where the choice of accommodation as presented by Thailand in Style ensures that this leg of your journey will be truly special. Surrounded by mountains, Chiang Mai has something for everybody with activities such as Elephant Trekking and trekking on foot, mountain biking, visiting hill tribes and white water or bamboo rafting.
