Baan Tawan Chai
With its wonderfully private location just beside a wide sandy beach protected by a rocky headland, this luxurious villa, part of the Samui Villas and Homes Boutique Collection, is perfect for those looking for quiet seclusion. The villa comprises three pavilions overlooking the blue expanse of ocean and a blue-tiled swimming pool with tranquil deck and grassy lawn. This four bedroom villa has a relaxed and homely feel and would be as great for a romancing couple as for entertaining friends since it has both an indoor and outdoor kitchen, a wonderful bar fashioned out of a reclaimed teak wagon wheel and a shady sala for semi-outdoor dining. The furnishings in the villa are a mixture of natural materials, traditional Thai styling, unique objects and some contemporary touches that give it a lot of character which combined with the tropical landscaping and elegant design makes you feel very much at home.
The villa houses four comfortable bedrooms all of which have en-suite bathrooms with both indoor and outdoor showers as well as either pool, garden or ocean views. One of the pavilions comprises a very comfortable open-plan lounge featuring a dining area and fully equipped western kitchen that occupies an alcove at the rear of the room. This cosy sitting area has a wooden vaulted ceiling and is characterized by furnishings made from a mixture of natural materials such as water hyacinth and teak covered with soft bright fabrics and individual pieces of furniture such as the hand-carved teak coffee table depicting a Thai jungle scene. Just outside of this are a grassy lawn leading to an outside kitchen and bar and a further lawn with reclaimed teak swing bench overlooking the natural scene.
The further two pavilions house the four rooms. In the centre of the courtyard is a blue-tiled pool with separate Jacuzzi, which wraps around a tile-roofed sala with stylish teak armchairs and a contemporary, though comfortable chez-lounge. The front of the grassy garden is enclosed by a natural bamboo fence that enhances the villa’s privacy but doesn’t disturb the beautiful sea views. A little bamboo gate leads down to the wide, flat beach which is flanked on one side by a peninsular of stunning rock formations. The ocean is warm and inviting and in the summer spectacularly retracts up to 100m from the beach line. The villa is located on Samui’s southern coast and is 15 minutes from the restaurants and shops of Lamai town.
